Will Kardashian Kloset Make Secondhand Shopping Cool?

Secondhand Shopping- Business savvy Kris Jenner’s new venture is yet another calculated business move, Kardashian Kloset.

Many of us know the Kardashian and Jenner sisters from their popular reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The show has been on for more than 10 years now! If you watch the show or follow one of the sisters on social media you know that they are stylish and also committed to keeping their names famous. Kris Jenner, mom, and manager (momager) is credited to be behind their 1.6-billion-dollar empire. The family has had success in almost everything they do… whether it is the family’s show, Kim’s Kimoji, Kendall’s modeling career, or Kylie’s cosmetic brand, they all have been massively successful. We know Kris Jenner can make a brand successful and inspire people to make some creative memes.

Business savvy Kris Jenner’s new venture is yet another calculated business move. Kardashian Kloset is a resale site where you can purchase the Kardashian-Jenner family’s designer items including handbags and dresses. It may not be a coincidence that the family has decided to resell their items when secondhand shopping has been increasing. ThredUp, the largest second-hand clothing site, reported that secondhand clothing will make up 1/3 of our wardrobes by 2023. Any item, especially fashion items that will be reused is good news for the planet.

We hope that seeing the Kardashian Jenner family sell their products will inspire people to embrace secondhand shopping. Not just the buying part of secondhand shopping but the selling part too. If you have a piece of clothing in your closet that is not being used do not throw it in the trash. Unfortunately, there is already too much textile waste in our landfills. Read our blogs on how you can support sustainable fashion here. Instead, donate, repurpose or like the Kardashians, sell it and make some moneyyy! ThredUP could be a great place to start selling your items.

That being said, we are also speculative to the fact that the new enterprise of the Kardashian family does not consider the problem of over-consumption. By selling their high-end products, as Kris Jenner encourages “shop til you drop”, is the family just looking to make money off their unwanted items and benefitting from the problem of overconsumption? Or is this the first step into their yet another business venture, perhaps the family will establish an online platform for the public to sell and buy second-hand items? We at Gallant specialize in eco-friendly gift with purchase customizable makeup bags.
